That's according to a report released Wednesday bythe , which also showa that 62 percent of the nation'se households report using the Internet at home in 2007, an 18 percen t increase from 1997. Among households using the net in 82 percent reported usinga high-speed and 17 percent used a dial-up “As access to high speed connections have becomer more prevalent, so too have the number of people that connectr to the Internet at home,” said Thom File, a statisticianb with the Census Bureau Housinv and Household Economic Statistics Division.
“These data give us a bettedr understanding of who is using the Internet and from About 66 percent of Georgians used the Interneftin 2007. New Hampshire had the highest rate of Interneg use for those age three and older in 2007 at 82 Mississippi and West Virginia had the lowest ratexs of use at aboutg52 percent. Internet usagr also varied by educationand race. For individualds 25 and older witha bachelor’w degree, 87 percent reported going onlind from some location in 2007. Abougt half (49 percent) of those with only a high schooll diploma reported usingthe Internet, comparedr with 19 percent for thosed without a high school diploma.
Meanwhile, 69 perceny of whites lived in householdss withInternet use. The same was true for 51 percengtof blacks, 73 percent of Asiansa and 48 percent of Hispanics.
