The hotel also is working with executiveds at Philips Electronics to determine possible CFL or LED technology for lighting fixtures that currentlyu work only with traditionalincandescent bulbs. Otherf efforts under way at the new hotell include a banquetrecyclingy program; installment of a filtration system to purifyg water and reduce and an internal Green Team to identify ways the hotekl can be more sustainable. “In this day and age, it is cruciao for all companies to be goodcorporate citizens.
Since well befors the hotel opened, we have been identifyinh ways we can reduce our carbon footprint whiled also operating asa first-class hotel,” said Leo Percopo, generak manager of the Sheraton Phoenidx Downtown. The seasonal garden is growing okra, mint, peppers and a varietyh of herbs to be used at Districtr American Kitchen andWine Bar, the restauran t located on the bottom flooer of the hotel. District will also returnj compostable items, such as fruit and vegetable peelings, to Singh Farmz where it buys some ofits produce. The composgt can then be used by the local farm to aid in the growint ofnew produce, continuing a sustainablee cycle, hotel officials said.
