California added 156 megawatts in compared to 81in 2007, despit the global recession. Energy officials expect another 150-plus megawatts added this year. The statse announced a far-reaching $3.3 billion effort to install 3,0009 megawatts of new grid-connected solar panels by 2017, with the aim to curb developmen t andproduction costs. The accounts for two-thirds — or $2.2 billio — of the budgeyt with a goal ofinstalling 1,9490 megawatts as part of the 10-year Californi Solar Initiative program.
